What to Feed a Maine Coon Kitten - Helpful Tips on Choosing the Right Food

Want to know what to feed a Maine Coon kitten? Well here are a couple helpful tips on choosing the right food for your kitten.
Maine Coon kittens make the most wonderful companions. They are lovable adaptable and very smart. They can also grow to be very big! These adorable kittens can grow to anywhere between 12-20 pounds.
Because of this, they require a high quality kitten food that has an adequate protein source. Be sure and look for a kitten food that has at least 33% protein in it. Proteins like chicken meal, eggs, turkey meal and catfish meal are all excellent sources of protein for a Maine Coon.
Look for "meals" rather than just chicken, turkey or catfish. Meals have a much more concentrated source of protein in them. This is because the water from the chicken or turkey has been removed and what is left is concentrated protein. This is very beneficial for your kitten.
Also be sure and look for a kitten food that does NOT have any" by products" in it. By products are the "leftovers" after the good meat and vegetables have been used. This could include anything from chicken feet, chicken heads, blood, husks and even feathers.
All these "by products" are added to a kitten food as a filler and they are a very inferior source of protein. Just look for the word "by products" in the ingredient list. If you see it listed, say no thanks. Your Maine Coon kitten will thank you for it!
